Tool to enhance safe work integration processes in the mining sector (Phase 2): Design and production of the tool

Abstract

The aim of this activity is to give concrete form (both text and format) to the content developed during the creation of the Tool to enhance safe work integration processes in the mining sector. This tool was developed in collaboration with the Association paritaire en santé et sécurité du travail du secteur des mines (APSM, the joint health and safety association for the mining sector) and the Comité sectoriel de main-d'œuvre de l'industrie des mines (CSMO Mines, the sectoral workforce committee for the mining industry).

A previous project – Conditions for a safe and competent integration of new workers into the mining sector – documented conditions for integrating new workers in five mines and identified the main challenges faced by these workers, their supervisors and their more experienced coworkers. It also proposed possible ways to facilitate integration and support the transfer of knowledge from experienced workers to novices.

The tool makes this adapted knowledge accessible to meet the needs of the mining sector.
