Update and validation of the content of the guide “Occupational Health and Safety: Ideas and Concepts of Use to WOTP Instructors”

Abstract

Numerous studies have shown that young, poorly qualified workers, who have learning difficulties and who drop out of school are particularly vulnerable in terms of OHS.

The objective of the “Work-oriented Training Path” is to prepare students with learning difficulties for the labour market and to develop specific skills through co-op work placements. These are generally manual jobs, recognized as being more physically demanding and presenting OHS risks.

Since 2010, many school boards have expressed interest in improving the training of school staff in occupational health and safety issues so that they will be better equipped to coach WOPT students. The researcher developed a manual for teachers, which explains useful ideas and concepts in OHS training and prevention.

The aim of this activity is to update and validate the scientific and theoretical content of the manual for the teachers who are responsible for co-op work placements in the framework of the WOTP, and to describe its use and implementation.
