Project on the teaching and integration of workplace health and safety situation management knowledge: development of case studies

Abstract

Occupational health and safety management has an important place in companies. In an increasingly competitive economic context, companies have to control the costs of OHS management in terms of contributions paid to the CSST, investments in protective equipment and preventive measures, as well as the indirect costs related to prolonged absences and work disabilities. Companies are noting that the successful implementation of preventive OHS measures has mobilizing effects on the involvement of workers in production, in quality control, in improving the working climate, and in the social cohesion of teams. However, the implementation of such measures raises many challenges for managers.

The aim of this project is to create a database of case studies in OHS problem management as a teaching tool for students in human resources management. The researchers believe that the combined teaching of OHS and management could be useful, on the one hand, for honing the sense of responsibility of future managers regarding the workers’ well-being and, on the other hand, for creating an OHS culture consistent with development and productivity.
