The prevention of poisoning in forage silos

Forage ensiled in conventional tower silos undergoes fermentation that makes it more digestible and nourishing for livestock. This process generates toxic gases at concentrations likely to cause serious poisoning, and sometimes even death. Due to the oxygen deficiency and the presence of these gases, it is difficult to determine the moment when entry into a silo is safe.
