Protective gloves against mechanical attack: the cut, puncture and tear resistance characteristics of new gloves – production of a selection guide

Abstract

The researchers took some sixty models of gloves most commonly used in Québec industry for protection against mechanical hazards and subjecting them to cut, puncture and tear resistance tests, in accordance with current international standards for protective clothing materials. The information collected was used to produce a guide that users can refer to in selecting the gloves best adapted to their needs. Available on the IRSST’s Web site, this guide is designed in such a way as to allow the eventual addition of new glove models, as well as other properties such as flexibility, dexterity and adherence.
