Updating of the guide on respiratory protection equipment used in Québec

Abstract

The Regulation respecting occupational health and safety (RROHS) gives the IRSST the responsibility of producing and continually updating a database on respiratory protection equipment approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Available in printed form and on the Internet, the Guide of respiratory protection equipment used in Québec will be updated in relation to recent regulatory changes and modifications pertaining to the normative classification of these devices. A chapter will also be added on the development and application of a respiratory protection program that will mainly contain guidelines on the medical examination and on the training program that will come into effect with its publication. This updating will allow workplaces to make better use of respiratory protection devices so that they can offer workers better protection.
