Indicators of compensated occupational injuries: analysis by economic activity sector, Québec, 2000-2002

Abstract

For 20 years, the IRSST has been producing five-year indicators that measure the relative frequency and severity of the occupational injuries compensated by the CSST. These indicators are used mainly as input for the scientific research program and the development of prevention programs, as well as a tool for strategic monitoring. Once again, the researchers will produce prevalence, severity and frequency indicators for these injuries. The industry portraits thus developed will provide information on three professional categories and on targeted economic activities, including a descriptive complement of the characteristics of the compensated injuries for the most affected groups. The addition of the age variable will better identify the research orientations involving young workers’ occupational health and safety.
