Reasoned summary of the assessment tools for risks associated with industrial machines

Abstract

Hazardous situations related to industrial machines can cause serious accidents. Without a prior analysis, it is difficult to integrate means of reducing these risks into the design or modification of these machines, particularly since the evaluation tools are as numerous as they are diverse. The researchers will do a bibliographical analysis of the documentation relating to these tools in order to identify the characteristics of each. This compendium of knowledge will allow the different risk analysis processes available to be classified, including those that are used by some Québec companies, as well as a basis to be established for determining the needs of these industries and the methods to be used for subsequent research. Over the long term, through the use of optimized risk evaluation tools, SME will be able to define the risks associated with hazardous machines and thus implement better adapted means of prevention in order to reduce accidents.
