Using an eye tracking camera in ergonomic field studies

Abstract

In ergonomics, visual information gathering by workers can be vital for work performance and can be useful in preventing serious accidents or musculoskeletal disorders. An eye tracking camera can be used to simultaneously record both field of view and gaze direction. The goal of this project is to adapt this instrument to field studies and to incorporate the data obtained into evaluation methods commonly used in ergonomics. If necessary, a development plan will be drawn up to optimize the use of this new tool. The data obtained from visual information gathering will facilitate the design of safe work stations.
