Solvent substitution by 1-bromopropane, dimethylsulfoxyde, and Aqueous Solvents

Abstract

The flammability, toxicity and environmentally unfriendly nature of organic solvents are causing companies to look for substitute products. One study has led to the production of monographs on three of these products: 1-bromopropane, dimethyl sulfoxide and aqueous cleaners. Each document deals with one substance in particular, presenting its physical and chemical properties, potential uses, effects on health and the environment, known exposure levels, relevant regulations, and the technical aspects of its implementation and prevention methods. These documents may be particularly useful to industrial hygienists, workplace physicians and other specialists in the field.
