Characteristics of companies which successfully reintegrate workers who have suffered occupational injuries - Phase 1: Identification of organizational factors likely to be associated with maintaining the employment link

Abstract

The possibility of occupational reinstatement of injured workers is an issue of concern in the workplace because of the human, social and economic costs involved. Because little is known about this issue, this study will first identify the organizational characteristics of those companies which succeed in maintaining the employment link among employees who have missed more than 45 days of work as the result of an occupational injury. Researchers will then review the available scientific data and use the appropriate tools to gather information from approximately 15 companies. The interviews will be analyzed to pinpoint the organizational factors that are most likely to be associated with maintaining the employment link.
