Analysis:
Carbone total
Method: IRSST - 388
Sampling protocol
Sampling device:
Sampling media required:
#IRSST
Description
952
Treated quartz filters, 25 mm
Parameters:
Flow rate: 1,7 (nylon) 2,75 (GS3) L/min
TWA sampling volume: 720 L
STEL sampling volume: -
Remarks:
A cyclone is required for sampling.
Analytical protocol
Principle:
Thermal-optical with flame ionization detection (TO-FID)
Precision (%):
10
Minimum reported value:
3 µg
Remarks:
The analysis method yields an organic carbon and elemental carbon result. The sum of the two results yields the total carbon result. Sample results are corrected for the field blank. The field blank must be found on the same analysis request as the associated samples and must be from the same lot as the samples. It is advisable to report the presence of carbonates in the samples to the laboratory if carbonates are potentially present. IRSST method 388 is equivalent to the method NIOSH 5040: Diesel Particulate Matter, version 3 of March 15, 2003, published by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
