Call for Applications for the 2022–2023 IRSST Graduate Studies Scholarships and Postdoctoral Fellowships

Call for Applications for the 2022–2023 IRSST Graduate Studies Scholarships and Postdoctoral Fellowships

The call for applications for the 2022-2023 IRSST Graduate Studies Scholarships and Postdoctoral Fellowships is now launched. The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.

The goal of the IRSST scholarship programs is to increase the pool of researchers available to meet research needs in occupational health and safety. These scholarships and fellowships are open to candidates whose research projects focus on preventing industrial accidents and occupational diseases or on the rehabilitation of workers affected by them.

Changes to the program

Some changes have been made to the program this year:

  • For doctoral fellowship candidates, the addition of a special provision stating that it is permissible to receive a fellowship payment during a compulsory paid or unpaid internship in the fellow’s program, provided that the research supervisor does not object.
  • For postdoctoral fellowship candidates, a change in conditions related to the eligibility period: if the doctoral degree has not been completed, candidates must provide proof of the initial submission of their thesis by August 15 in the year following the competition date.
  • For foreign postdoctoral fellowship candidates, the removal of the requirement to have obtained their PhD in a university outside of Québec.

Scholarship supplements

Through the payment of scholarship supplements, to complement funding from other granting agencies, the IRSST scholarship and fellowship program provides financial support to candidates who demonstrate noteworthy aptitudes for graduate studies and a keen interest in research into occupational health and safety issues.

Thematic scholarships available

The IRSST awards three types of thematic scholarships: the Andrée-Bouchard Thematic Scholarship on gender, work and health, two master’s-level scholarships on mechanical risk prevention, and one master’s- or doctoral-level scholarship on road safety.
