Profile

Kannan Krishnan joined the IRSST in 2017 as the Chief Scientific Officer of the Institute. He is also director of the World Health Organization's Collaborating Center on Occupational Health (CAN-79). Holder of a doctorate in community health (Specialization: Environmental toxicology) from the University of Montreal, he completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology (now Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences) in North Carolina. Kannan has more than 20 years of experience in research, particularly in toxicology, occupational health and chemical risk assessment. He has authored or co-authored nearly 200 scientific documents including journal articles, book chapters and research reports. He has been awarded national and international awards several times. Prior to joining the IRSST, Kannan served as Senior Vice President of Risk Sciences International Inc. in Ottawa, as well as Chairman of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and Vice-Dean of Research at the School of Public Health of the University of Montreal.
