Pierre Marcotte / Professional researcher grade 2

Jr. Eng. (Québec), Physics; M.A.Sc. Mechanical Engineering; Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering

Profile

Pierre Marcotte completed studies in engineering physics and mechanical engineering, with a specialization in the fields of acoustics and vibrations. He has been a noise and vibration researcher at the IRSST since 2002 and a member of the Canadian Advisory Committee ISO/TC108/SC4 on Human Exposure to Mechanical Vibration and Shock since 2009.  Pierre is also an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Concordia University and a member of the editorial committee for the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics. His research focuses on the human body’s biodynamic response to vibrations and on the evaluation and reduction of hand-arm and whole-body vibration.

Expertise

  • Evaluation of occupational exposure to noise and vibration
  • Evaluation of vibration and noise emission of machines and hand-held tools
  • Reduction of noise and vibration at the source
  • Anti-vibration protective equipment
  • Biodynamics of hand-arm and whole-body vibration
  • Vibration of mechanical structures and systems
