Until now, however, guardrail anchoring systems used in Québec had never been subjected to testing for compliance with the Safety Code for the construction industry.

In addition to providing individual frequency indicators and severity indicators, the study has come up with a frequency-severity

for injuries resulting in time-loss compensation (TLC). It also contains
separate indicators for the three occupational groups (manual workers,
non-manual workers and workers with combined tasks); youth 15 to 24 years;

                  On average, 5,000 new cases of occupational diseases or disorders (OD) are recognized in Quebec each year. They constitute slightly less than 5% of all employment injuries and are more prevalent among men (2.7 ‰) -- particularly those aged 45 years of age or over (5 ‰) – than among women (0.9 ‰). The frequency rate is highest in the secondary sector (manufacturing and construction), where more than four workers out of every thousand are injured or harmed. The primary sector (agriculture, forestry, mining, hunting and fishing) has the second highest frequency rate (3.3 ‰), while in the tertiary sector less than one in a thousand is harmed. This data is derived from statistical profiles of compensated occupational injuries in Quebec for the period
2005-2007, of which the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en
