Training program in occupational disability preventionPatrick Loisel / Université de Sherbrooke

0099-2500 : Ongoing

Besides being very costly, prolonged absence from work due to a health problem is also associated with a low prognosis of recovery. Recent studies demonstrate that prolonged occupational disability results from inadequate interactions between the worker and the other partners in this situation (company, health system, claims agent). The multidimensional nature of this issue must therefore be considered and models applied to it in which the person is situated in his environment. No transdisciplinary training program in occupational disability prevention currently exists. The aim of this project is to develop such a curriculum so that doctoral or postdoctoral students can acquire this competency. By being associated with 24 specialists from some fifteen disciplines connected to nine Canadian universities, the researcher will develop a program consisting mainly of courses, mentorship and seminars. With this complementary transdisciplinary training, students will be able to broaden their perspectives in occupational disability prevention.
