Toxicity of olivine, SNA sand, and silica Abstract This project compares the toxicity of olivine, SNA sand (produced by the Société nationale de l’amiante (National Asbestos Company)), and silica. A review of olivine toxicity in industrial settings suggests that it is less toxic than siliceous sand. SNA sand, with similar physical and chemical properties as olivine, should possess similar toxicity. Confirmation of this hypothesis however requires further research activity.
