Tools for the Prevention of Cumulative Trauma Disorders in the Poultry Slaughterhouse Sector Abstract This exercise in the application of research results is an extension of ten years of IRSST research in participatory ergonomics in poultry slaughterhouses. Stakeholders in this sector are now aware of the value of ergonomics, and a considerable body of knowledge has been accumulated on the nature and sources of risk factors for cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs), and on CTD-prevention strategies and approaches. This project will improve the effectiveness of CTD prevention by developing new prevention tools specific to the poultry sector, in collaboration with appropriate scientific resources and company representatives. The following tools will be produced: resource documents on pain and on symptoms, a reporting form for symptoms, and videos on the nature, causes, and elimination of risk factors, the analysis of repetitive tasks, and the problem-resolution process.
