The causes of occupational accidents in Québec: Characteristics of the physical environment, technical characteristics of jobs, and socio-economic characteristics of workers Abstract The incidence and relative importance of factors responsible for occupational accidents in Québec is poorly understood. This study, a continuation of earlier work (RS-86-43), examined the influence of occupation on selected risk factors. A model of occupational risk was developed, using data from existing databases and databases developed specifically for this study, and used to estimate the influence on occupational accidents of certain occupations’ technical characteristics, environmental conditions, and workers’ socio-economic characteristics. Once validated, this model could be used to estimate the relative importance of each of these factors to the risk of occupational accidents in Québec.
