Support in the development of a prevention guide for the performing arts, in partnership with the CSST Abstract In June 2004, the Québec Ministry of Culture and Communications made public the Plan d’action pour l’amélioration des conditions socio-économiques des artistes – Pour mieux vivre de l’art (Action plan to improve artists’ socioeconomic conditions – Better living through art). In one of the measures in this plan, addressing the prevention of artists’ injuries, the CSST made the commitment to create joint issue tables, mainly in the performing arts, to examine the issues, improve knowledge, and determine appropriate prevention measures. Associated with this action, the CSST called on the IRSST to conduct an exploratory study on the occupational health and safety hazards in this field. At the same time, a technical committee, under the CSST’s direction and bringing together partners in the sector, initiated reflection on the possibility of developing a prevention management guide specific to the field of the performing arts.In order to implement a research result transfer and promotion strategy rapidly with the partners of the performing arts sector and CSST, the researchers are offering support to the technical committee in developing and writing a prevention guide. This guide is meant as a tool for the people in this community for organizing prevention in artistic productions. An IRSST team will collaborate in the development of technical fact sheets, also serving as a prevention tool, for the people in charge of the cinema sector.
