Statistical profile of CSST-compensated spinal injuries in Quebec, 1994 to 1996 Abstract Although back pain has been extensively studied in Quebec, very few comprehensive statistical surveys have been conducted, most studies having chosen to investigate specific occupations, economic sectors or treatments. Using administrative data on occupational injuries from the CSST and workforce data from Statistics Canada, this study drew up a statistical profile of spinal injuries in Quebec and identified economic sectors with a high prevalence of back injuries. Detailed statistical tables allow easy identification of occupations with a particularly high prevalence of back injuries and of sector-specific back injuries. The study will help researchers and research managers target types of injury and economic sectors with the most pressing needs. The results could also help orient preventive or corrective measures in the workplace.
