Back pain represents a significant portion of the injuries compensated by the CSST; physiotherapists are often involved in managing this problem. A prospective study carried out on a representative sample of physiotherapists working in private clinics identified the interventions used in each session on workers compensated following acute or subacute low back pain. Some suffer from referred pain; others do not. The publication describes physiotherapists’ interventions on and advice given to workers, depending on whether they have referred pain or not. The authors note that different approaches are used by physiotherapists treating similar patients for the two groups of workers. Since the different therapeutic approaches of physiotherapists are now known, other studies are necessary to measure their effectiveness.
