Optimal placement of gas monitors used to monitor styrene dispersal in workplaces

Abstract

Methods to detect and control styrene vapour in the rubber and plastics products fabrication sector are poorly understood. This project studied the integration of artificial intelligence into a styrene detection system, and the communication between the control system and the network of detectors.

Sensors were tested in a controlled-atmosphere chamber, equipped with temperature and pressure sensors. A portable detection and control module which incorporates a humidity sensor was developed.
