Occupational hygiene manual, IRSST component

Abstract

The approaches inherent in workplace evaluation are mainly of British or American origin. The reference literature in industrial hygiene therefore exists almost exclusively in English. In 1985, the publication in Québec of the Hygiène du travail (Occupational hygiene) manual, the result of collaboration between several partners, including the CSST, made it possible to provide interested individuals with a French manual. Since that time, this work has served as a source of information for numerous occupational health and safety professionals as well as a pedagogical tool for training in this field. Nearly 20 years later, even though it is still one of the only French references on the subject, a field document is needed, taking into account the different disciplines that make up occupational hygiene. Directed by the Association québécoise pour l’hygiène, la santé et la sécurité du travail (AQHSST), this activity will consist of collecting texts from various Québec specialists, including experts from the IRSST, to enhance the second edition of the manual. This new version will allow professionals from the French community to address traditional and emerging occupational hygiene problems with coherent points of reference.
