Measuring the CO emissions from hot air generators used on construction sites Abstract This publication describes the results obtained in the laboratory for measurement of the carbon monoxide (CO) emitted by four hot air generators of different powers, delivered “as is” by rental companies. Due to the variability in the measurements obtained, the author recommends using an emission value of 15g of CO / 100 000 BTU for evaluating the air quality on construction sites. Furthermore, the high temperature of some generators may represent a risk for workers. Several observations were also made about the general condition of the equipment that can represent a risk. The author emphasizes the fact that only people with the required competency cards may connect a hot air generator to propane tanks or to the natural gas network.
