Integration of health and safety considerations into quality management programs in the mechanical and bodywork departments of automobile dealerships, with special attention to the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries Abstract This publication summarizes the study of the application of a model for integrating occupational health and safety management into quality management. This study was conducted in the mechanical and body shops of the car dealership sector, where many work-related injuries occur. The review of documentation and the pilot project demonstrate that ISO 9000 standards may help in integrating occupational health and safety, insofar as they are used as an instrument for managing total quality and not just quality assurance. From this perspective, the author believes that the application of ISO 9000 standards could be extended to prevention management. However, this extension should not be considered as a simple addition to the health and safety management tasks, but a desire that health and safety be included in production management.
