Abstract

This project analyzed the frequency of infractions of the Construction Safety Code, in order to provide a focus for the training of workers and foremen. Using detailed information furnished by the CSST (Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail du Québec, Québec Occupational Health and Safety Commission), the approximately 17 000 infractions recorded in one year were classified by section, sub-section and article of the Construction Safety Code. Further information was obtained during interviews with representatives of the construction industry.

Among the most frequently contravened articles of the Code were those dealing with personal protective equipment, electrical facilities, housekeeping operations, protective barriers, scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment.
