Exploratory study of the health and safety problems of insect-screen installers in the door and window industry Abstract Insect-screen installers in the door and window industry experience certain occupational health and safety problems, such as epicondylitis and tendinitis. To document the nature, origin and possible causes of these ailments, researchers visited certain companies and met with groups of workers. They first analyzed the workstations, collected data from accident reports, and gathered opinions and information on risks from members of the occupational health and safety committee. Based on the observation of workstations, the study confirmed that the installation of insect screens is a risky operation. It made certain recommendations, including the development of a tool to reduce the need for the transfer of physical effort, thereby limiting normal deviations in the desired joints, and the development of workstations that can accommodate the workers’ different sizes.
