Evaluation of the C.I.P.-10 pump Abstract This project evaluates the performance of the French C.I.P.-10 pump, originally designed to sample wood, quartz and cement dusts, and the advantages and disadvantages of its use in workplace sampling of wood, quartz, cement and grain dusts, peat moss aerosols, and welding fumes. The results indicate that, on average, the C.I.P.-10 captures 140% as much respirable dust as a cyclone and 190% as much total dust as a cassette, and that respirable dusts levels measured using samples obtained with the C.I.P.-10 were generally more precise than those obtained using a cyclone.
