Establishing the partner network and identifying research priorities in the context of the Opération JeuneSST (operation youth occupational health and safety) development plan

Abstract

According to data from the year 2000, young people 15 to 25 years of age make up 15% of the Québec workforce and perform 10% of the hours worked by all of the workforce, but nevertheless represent 17% of the compensated occupational injuries. Considering the situation, the CSST created an action plan intended for them, and the IRSST launched Opération JeuneSST. In the context of this operation, the IRSST initiated three research projects to better identify the needs and to communicate some preliminary occupational health and safety results for young workers. This second activity consists of establishing a network of social and scientific partners that can either appropriate and disseminate the results of future research, or collaborate on it. It also aims to determine the needs, concerns, issues and questions that will lead to the proposal of intervention priorities in this field. The consultations carried out in the context of this activity, together with the deliverables from the Opération’s other prior activities, will allow the IRSST to better define research orientations and action priorities on this topic and to begin to disseminate useful information to researchers and professionals on this issue.
