Analysis of a new planter for containerized seedlings, and its impact on workers Abstract Reforestation is seasonal and tiring work. Each reforester plants 800-1 500 plants each day, and each planting requires bending the back and legs. Studies have shown that at least half of all reforesters suffer some injury during the course of each season. In an attempt to reduce the strain associated with reforestation, and by extension, the hazards to which reforesters are exposed, this study will examine the effects of the introduction of a new, rugged, and light planter. Investigation will focus on reforesters' exertion, posture, comfort and performance, and on the ease of use of the planter. The new planter should reduce the amount of bending required of reforestation workers, and consequently, the fatigue and number of injuries suffered by them.
