Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, and to ensure the health and safety of its employees and its entire network, the IRSST has introduced a number of exceptional measures.
Our research teams are hard at work responding to the requests we have received in connection with COVID-19 and OHS. We are also conducting scientific watch activities in order to make the knowledge produced in Québec and elsewhere in the world available to the public. We invite you to visit the COVID-19 and OHS Web page (available in French only) on the IRSST Web site to consult this information, which will be continually updated.
Call to researchers
The IRSST calls on its network of researchers to submit research proposals (available in French only) focussed on the development of solutions or the advancement of knowledge on occupational health and safety in a pandemic context. The Institute would therefore like to receive short research proposals related to the COVID-19 pandemic and that will yield short-term results (worker protection, mental health, data collection, protective equipment, cleaning of surfaces and equipment, modelling, etc.). The project proposals will be evaluated quickly and funded according to the Institute’s monetary capacities. If you would like to submit research proposals, please contact our research management advisors or write to [email protected].
The Laboratory Division
The Laboratory Division remains open to requests for urgent analytical tests that may be required by the CNESST and Québec’s health and social services network. You are asked not to send in any samples or instruments without first making arrangements with Customer Service (514-288-1551, extension 315).
Research grant programs
Until further notice, the IRSST is suspending the submission of new projects under its regular research grant programs (collaborative and competitive).
However, support for already-funded research projects and activities will continue. We also understand that the current context may make it difficult, if not impossible, to adhere to deadlines and the initially planned steps. The Institute will be flexible in this regard. If you encounter difficulties carrying out your work due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation or have any questions, please contact our research management advisors or write to [email protected].
The scholarship program
Results will be announced to applicants via email, as scheduled, in April 2020. Payments for the summer 2020 session will be made in May. Scholarship recipients will be informed of the procedures at a later date.
IRSST/Ambassadors’ Club Joint Award
This competition has been postponed until further notice.
Slowdown in some of the IRSST’s activities
Doing its part in the collective effort requested by the government to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRSST has introduced a number of exceptional measures to ensure the health and safety of its employees and respond to the requests from its network. The Institute asks all its employees to work from home, except for those who provide essential services. We are continuing to ensure that our activities are maintained. We ask you to communicate with our employees by email, not by phone, to ensure ongoing communication.
All the IRSST’s events, including the Rendez-vous de la science scheduled for April 21, 2020, have been cancelled. We will keep you informed of any developments regarding future events.
Thank you for your understanding.
