Goal and target population
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS PROCESS?
The COs project showed that it was possible to reduce violence in a workplace ― while exerting a positive influence on workers’ health ― by implementing a participatory primary prevention process.
The process described here is therefore designed to help organizations benefit from the knowledge gained from the COs experience and to:
- implement this type of process in their workplace;
- improve on their existing violence prevention measures.
WHAT TYPE OF ORGANIZATION CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROCESS?
This process is intended for all types of organizations, whether big or small, but should be tailored to the size and characteristics of each organization. The information provided here can be adapted to suit any type of organization simply by making minor adjustments.
For example:
- When the participatory process calls for union representatives, non-unionized organizations could involve employee representatives.
- For smaller organizations, a “meeting of the violence prevention committee” to discuss factors at the source of the violence in the organization could take the form of a team meeting or activity bringing all employees together in a less formal context and adapted to the organization’s particular dynamics and culture.
