Immigrant workers and OHS in Québec: State of knowledge based on published statistical studies and review of available data sources

Abstract

The increased number of immigrant workers has changed workplace characteristics, particularly in terms of occupational health and safety (OHS) and the occupational accident prevention and management challenges of integrating newcomers into the labour market. This has created a need to understand the work characteristics that can influence immigrants’ OHS risks.

This study will produce a profile of the immigrant workforce based on Quebec and Canadian statistical data analyses.
It will also identify data sources that can be referenced to document work characteristics affecting OHS risks. A better understanding of the documentation and the potential offered by relevant data sources will provide useful information to guide future research on immigrant workers.
