Production of a collective document on ergonomic intervention

Abstract

It is difficult for ergonomists in training to master the practice of ergonomic interventions. Furthermore, since this specialty is new, is fed by several source disciplines, and has different schools of thought, its identity is taking a long time to develop. Although several publications in French intended for ergonomists in training exist, they are often considered theoretical and not well adapted to the Québec context. Moreover, the increase in musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) has prompted the IRSST to invest extensively in ergonomic studies and in the training of ergonomists in the last 20 years. Québec’s experienced researchers and practitioners have therefore developed knowledge about ergonomic intervention that has left few actual traces. By basing themselves mainly on their knowledge and on that of their experienced collaborators, the researchers will produce a didactical work intended for francophone ergonomists and for occupational health and safety professionals. In addition to documenting the knowledge that Québec has acquired in this field, this publication will illustrate the institute’s expertise in ergonomics and MSD prevention.
