Design, implementation and evaluation of an integrated program of practices for supporting a return to work following an absence due to a mental health problem

Abstract

Mental health problems in the workplace are a new reality in several environments and represent one of the most common causes of absenteeism. Little research has been devoted to the professional rehabilitation of workers who have had to interrupt their work due to a mental health problem, despite the need expressed by both public and private employers. In collaboration with all interested parties, the scientists will conceive, implement and evaluate an integrated program of return-to-work support practices. Such a program could prevent an increase in absenteeism due to psychological health problems, and promote a sustainable professional reintegration for the people affected. The approach, transferable to other workplaces, aims to obtain realistic results through improved reintegration practices involving organizational changes.
