Ventilation guide for air quality in industrial workplaces

Abstract

Many small and mid-sized manufacturing firms experience problems with air quality, but lack both the technical resources and the information with which to design an efficient ventilation system. Indeed, these companies often have inefficient or unsafe ventilation systems. The purpose of this project, conducted in collaboration with the AQME, the CSST and the Beaulier consulting firm, is to prepare a guide to help companies clearly define what they expect from ventilation consultants and systems installers and be able to maintain their own ventilation systems. The guide is designed to meet the specific needs of six areas of activity, chosen for their potential risks to workers and for their economic importance: welding and oxyacetylene cutting, composite materials, painting, automotive repair, furniture manufacturing and metal plating.
