Using different examples, this report shows the results and outcomes obtained during the year. It sets out indicators selected to assess the organization’s production and provides accurate and reliable data on the results obtained.

ASTHMA IN THE WORKPLACE
Information and prevention: 7 summary fact sheets

It is important to understand the health risks associated with different training and work environments in order to adopt behaviours oriented towards the prevention of occupational asthma and rhinitis. The IRSST has just published a fact sheet presenting these two respiratory diseases in a general way as well as six other fact sheets that present the risk factors more specifically, and propose means of protection adapted to six occupational environments.

CONFERENCE
Occupational Health and Safety Research in Action: Method, Results and Applications
15-17 juin 2008 - École de technologie supérieure
This bilingual conference is organised jointly by the Canadian Association for Research on Work and Health (CARWH) and the Quebec’s occupational health and safety research network (RRSSTQ).

Its purpose is to foster cutting-edge research in the area of work and health by bringing together stakeholders and researchers from a wide variety of disciplines and from diverse regions of the country to exchange ideas and knowledge. The conference title “Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Research in Action: Methods, Results and Applications” encompasses two overarching themes: the “action of doing research” (e.g., methodological issues, progress reports, critical commentary, findings), and the “putting research into action” e.g., application of research (knowledge translation, exchange, etc.).


FRENCH-SPEAKING SUMMIT ON WORK RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDER (WMSD) : FROM RESEARCH TO ACTION


On 18th and 19th June 2008 the IRSST will hold the second French-Speaking Summit on Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorder (WMSD): from research to action. About 300 researchers practitioners and professionals working in occupational health and safety field will take part in this event with the aim at drawing an overview on the topic and exploring successful initiatives to prevent WMSDs.

A bilingual computer-based tool for conversion of RROHS permissible exposure values (PEVs) expressed in ppm
The IRSST makes public a bilingual computer-based tool. This tool makes it possible to access the permissible exposure values (PEVs) in Schedule 1 of the 2007 RROHS as well as 703 chemicals’ designations and remarks for each of the substances. It also allows conversion of the PEVs expressed in ppm for conditions other than 25°C and 760 mm of Hg (NTP conditions). The tool can be downloaded free of charge.
