The knowledge transfer and partner relations department Mandate of the team In 2006, the IRSST decided to integrate KT into all research and KT expertise activities. This decision was based on a significant background of knowledge, leading-edge expertise, a solid network of collaborators and intermediaries, and the creation of a team devoted to KT and the promotion of research results. In order to optimize result translation and KT activities, a knowledge transfer advisor was assigned to each of the research fields. The team’s mandate is to promote the use of the research results in workplaces by: - developing, maintaining and supplying information to the stakeholders’ network;
- supporting and promoting knowledge brokering with the partners;
- participating in defining and analyzing research needs;
- ensuring the implementation of KT strategies in order to make the research results useful for workplaces.
The role of knowledge transfer advisor The knowledge transfer advisor is the champion of the “knowledge translation” dimension within the IRSST. He takes on different roles depending on the phases of the research and knowledge translation cycle. He contributes to the analysis of the stakeholders/end-users’ needs and their transposition into research intent. He supports the researchers throughout the research project process, from the preparation of grant applications specifically regarding the KT aspects of the project. In addition, he ensures follow-up of the KT plan and participates to the start-up and the can lead of the follow-up committee. The advisor collaborates in the adaptation of the results and in the development of collaboration with partners in order to ensure follow-up of the translation of the results and the evaluation of the outcomes. In addition, the advisor initiates KT activities for internal and external research projects. The members of the team
