Profile

Joseph Zayed has been the leader of the IRSST’s Chemical and Biological Hazard Prevention research field since 2009. He holds a Ph.D. in public health and is an associate professor at Université de Montréal, where he has supervised more than 100 graduate students. Mr. Zayed is a former director of the Centre interuniversitaire de toxicologie and president of the Steering Committee of the Canadian Network of Toxicology Centres. He has authored more than 200 publications and scientific presentations and has received numerous awards, including the Award of Excellence in Teaching from Université de Montréal. A part-time member of the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE) since September 1992, he has sat on 20 commissions of inquiry, including 12 that he directed as chairman.
