André Plamondon / Senior researcher

B.Sc. Physical Activity; M.Sc. Physical Activity; Ph.D. Biomechanics

André Plamondon holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in physical activity from Université Laval as well as a Ph.D. in biomechanics from Université de Montréal. From 1989 to 1992, he worked in the Université de Montréal biomechanics laboratory. Then from 1992 to 2001, he taught as an associate professor in the School of Human Kinetics at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Since joining the IRSST in 2001, Mr. Plamondon’s research has focused on the quantification of back loading during handling activities and the development of instruments for measuring workers’ physical exposure in relation to work-related musculoskeletal disorders. An experienced researcher, he heads the IRSST’s biomechanics laboratory and has over 100 scientific articles and conference papers on the subject to his credit.
