Design and production of two fact sheets on lift truck safety: "Rearview mirrors on lift trucks: installation and use" and "Lights and headlights on lift trucks " Abstract In the context of a previous project on lift truck safety that was interested in the operators’ driving strategies, the researchers noted the lack of information on the installation and use of rearview mirrors, as well as lights and headlights on this type of vehicle. Several accident risks can be linked to this lack of information: impact or crushing of a worker on foot during a backup manoeuvre or when backing up; contact with another lift truck (overturning of the other lift truck) or with a pallet rack (causing it to collapse), and the risk of causing material damage to equipment and products. These documents are intended in particular for lift truck operators, but also for all workers who share a work area where lift trucks operate. The documents will also be of interest to anyone in companies and departments that use this type of equipment: foremen, managers responsible for lift trucks; managers responsible for purchasing, rental and maintenance; mechanics; and members of health and safety committees concerned about the installation and appropriate use of rearview mirrors as well as lights and headlights.
