Development of a long-bore mini-drill Abstract Portable drills used in mines are heavy, generate noise levels exceeding standards, and expose drill operators to vibration. Many of these problems could be resolved by the use of a hydraulic long-bore mini-drill.This study measured noise and vibration levels, penetration, and operating conditions during field trials of a hydraulic drill of this type. The impact of the introduction of this new equipment on operators' working conditions and the economics of its introduction were analyzed. The introduction of a high-performance and safer drill will lead to safer worker conditions in the mining sector.
