Injury profile of occupational road accidents in Québec, 1996-2000 Abstract Road accidents caused more than 21% of the work-related deaths between 1995 and 1999. The occupational injuries resulting from such accidents are a significant proportion of the cases compensated by the CSST, but have not been extensively documented. The researchers will draw up the statistical profile of these injuries that occurred from 1996 to 2000. They will also document the feasibility of and interest in pairing the data of the Commission with that of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). With the information thus produced, the CSST will be able to evaluate the scope, consequences and characteristics of these injuries. It will also be able to assess the validity of pairing its data with that of the SAAQ, mainly to analyze aspects specific to cases of driver fatigue. This knowledge will furthermore be useful to it in its participation in a North American program to develop an integrated approach to managing driver fatigue in the road transport industry.
