Detailed study of work schedules of visiting homemakers and case-aids in a CLSC’s home care services

Abstract

This activity is part of a current study on the role of work organization as support for the protective strategies of visiting homemakers and case-aids who dispense the home care services of local community service centres (CLSCs). In response to the need of the milieu to identify more precisely the effect of work schedules and overtime, the researchers will examine more thoroughly the time constraints of visiting homemakers and case-aids of a CLSC participating in the study, thus enabling them to see to what extent these constraints have repercussions on their protective strategies. They will also document the decision-making process related to the eventual implementation of schedule-design and -management software. This study will improve knowledge about the prevention of occupational risks for aging personnel who work under time constraints. The benefits will extend to the other establishments that manage home care itineraries and schedules. Furthermore, the participating CLSC will be able to adapt its schedule management in relation to the actual work of its visiting homemakers and case-aids.
