Development of course material for the skills-transfer programme resulting from research on the integration of safety considerations into the design of equipment and systems in the pulp and paper sector Abstract In Québec, there are few design standards or guidelines to ensure that equipment and processes in the pulp and paper sector are safe. The variety of design methodologies, the failure to take safety into account during the design process, the great difficulty in obtaining design tools that take safety into account, and the failure of stakeholders to communicate are all problems that must be rectified if safety in this sector, which employs some 25,000 workers, is to be improved. Accordingly, this project will produce new course materials comprising text, diagrams, photographs, videos, overheads, posters and slides to be used in a training programme on the integration of safety considerations into the design of production systems in the pulp and paper sector.
