Abstract

Prior to this project, the Regulation Respecting the Quality of the Work Environment included by reference the list of respiratory protection equipment approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in the United States in 1993. However, in light of significant modifications of the regulation's dispositions concerning respirator approval and NIOSH's decision to no longer produce a written version of its list of approved respirators, it was decided to produce a guide to respirators approved for use in Quebec to which the regulation will henceforth refer. The guide contains information on respirator classification and use, and a list of respirators approved by NIOSH as of April 1997. Regular updates are planned.
