Descriptive study of hazards associated with nip points on paper machines Abstract Nip points arising between the paper machines' rollers are hazardous. Following accidents resulting in amputation, several regional offices of the Québec Occupational Health and Safety Commission asked the IRSST to study the hazards associated with these machines. This study will observe ergonomics in five pulp and paper plants, and conduct interviews with workers and supervisors. Hazardous situations associated with nip points will be described. The knowledge acquired during this study will eventually be applicable to similar machines used in other industrial sectors.
