Montréal, November 6, 2009 - The Institut de
recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) and the
Institut national de recherche et de sécurité of France (
INRS)
have agreed to formalize their exchanges in machine safety. To do this, the two
organizations have signed a specific partnership agreement on research topics of
common interest in order to contribute to the prevention of accidents related to
the operation and maintenance of industrial machines.
In addition to providing favoured access to results and data
ensuing from studies carried out by either of the signatories, this agreement
will promote the complementarity of their actions in order to carry out studies
of larger scope. “This partnership will allow us to be better equipped to
prevent accidents attributable to machines because it will facilitate access to
knowledge, expertise and to specialized resources that can also play a role of
mentor with less experienced scientists. The benefits will be reciprocal for the
two research institutes,” stated Marie Larue, president and CEO of the IRSST,
and Stéphane Pimbert, director general of the INRS.
A researcher exchange program is also anticipated, as well as
the possibility of making more diversified workplaces accessible for carrying
out field studies in France or in Québec.
